THE TEAM

Founder & Coach Amanda Alexander

Founder & Coach, CF-L1

Amanda Alexander

Amanda never imagined herself as a fitness enthusiast or gym owner. After realizing she needed to make a lifestyle change to prioritize health, she found her way to CrossFit 8 years ago.

After her home gym closed in 2022, she founded Southwest Training with a simple goal – creating a space where everyone, no matter their fitness level, feels genuinely welcome.

Her favorite thing about being a coach is watching people achieve their goals and seeing the joy it brings them.

When she’s not in the gym, you can find Amanda at the river with her dog Ollie, playing music with friends, or sipping lattes on the porch at Tantra.

Coach Eden Hansen

Coach, CF-L1

Eden Hansen

Eden has been doing CrossFit for 5 years and has been coaching at SWT for almost a year. She's currently ranked in the top 3% of individual female competitors, Eden's goal is to be a CrossFit Games athlete.

Her favorite thing about coaching is to celebrate the small wins with consistency and perseverance.

When she’s not in the gym, you can find Eden in the kitchen, finishing up high school, or taking a nap.

Coach Sarah Hansen

Coach, CF L-1

Sarah Hansen,

Sarah has been doing CrossFit for 10 years and is the newest addition to our coaching staff. Her favorite thing about coaching is creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and gets what they need to make progress toward their personal goals.

When she’s not in the gym, you can find Sarah enjoying a local coffee shop or brewery, hiking the trail or hanging out with her family.

Yoga Instructor Erika Nielson, Ph.D.

Yoga Instructor

Erika Nielson, Ph.D.

Erika has taught yoga for over 23 years. She developed a regular yoga practice after sustaining multiple injuries in a cycling accident in 1997. She used yoga to help holistically heal the physical, emotional, and mental trauma associated with the accident.

She pursued her first yoga teaching certification in 2001 and holds multiple certifications through YogaFit (Level I, Children’s Yoga), Ashtanga (teacher training with Manju Jois), and Hatha yoga. She especially loves teaching beginning yoga, modifying yoga practices to best honor the body, and encouraging healthy functional movement.

When she’s not teaching yoga, she enjoys spending time with her two kids (ages 17 and 20) and dogs (Corgi and Corgi mix), hiking, backpacking, singing, and teaching at Texas State University.
